Uganda is characterized by a number of tourist destinations, among these we have game reserves, national parks, museums, to mention but a few. Among the national parks, the pearl of Africa has Queen Elizabeth, Murchison falls, Lake Mburo, Mt. Elgon, Bwindi national parks and many more. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most beautiful, ancient rainforests in all of Africa. Nkuringo is located at the southern end of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park. It is not only the name of a gorilla group but also a name of the village in the southern part of the Impenetrable Rain Forest where the Nkuringo Family group is found. The Buhoma area is the most visited area of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest because of its easy accessibility but Nkuringo is the most scenic, the most stunning location, referred to as magical by numerous of visitors. The rugged surrounding all doused in a lovely green, the incredible Volcanoes of the Virunga Volcano Chain stretching from Uganda into the Democratic Republic of Congo provide some of the most beautiful views in all of Africa.

The sunrises and sunsets at Nkuringo are some of the wonders you need to experience beyond mere pictures but for yourself. The site is associated with various tour activities such as Gorilla Trekking Tours, boat rides, camping, nature walks such as the one to the “Top of the World”, where you look almost endlessly into the Congo and all the places in the southern part of the park. You can also explore the local village of Nkuringo and learn the culture and ways of the people all within this incredible setting called Nkuringo. Rock climbing is yet to be introduced to, you can take day Walking Safaris from Nkuringo to the Buhoma area or to Kisoro via a Lake Mutanda boat ride and the reverse is true. The gorilla groups in the region are Nkuringo, Nshongi, Mishaya and Kahungye Gorilla groups, cultural tours of local village’s, forest walks with guides, birding and scenic walks, also Mountain Biking. To all the photographers in the world, Nkuringo is a place that you would not want to miss in as far as your carrier is concerned due to its breathe-taking features. It simply is an incredible location and the views seem to change all day long from the early morning mist to the afternoon warm and cool sunlight up to the sunset in the evening. Nkuringo is truly magical and mere words cannot describe its beauty and wonders. You simply have to visit this incredible spot in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and you too will see it as one of the most stunning locations in all of Africa, an experience in sight, color, the surrounding sounds that weave together a tapestry of memories of this magical place called Nkuringo. As you prepare the tour to the magical land, there is only one magical tour operator and that is Africa Adventure Safaris.

Hot on the heels of growing, demands by the private sector stakeholders that Rwanda needs more training for staff working in the hospitality industry. the Rwanda Development Board Tourism and Conservation responded with a dedicated campaign launched in Kigali, promoting quality services at all levels. Clare Akamanzi, COO of the Rwanda Development Board was on stage with Rica Rwigamba, Head of Tourism and Conservation, at the launch of the initiative called “Na Yombi” locally translated into English to receive clients with “courtesy”. Rwanda Development Board has been at the forefront to support and facilitate more training in the tourism industry. It is not just for hotel personnel but also for guides, the board has also acknowledged that capacity constraints must be overcome and more training opportunities be made available for more newcomers to the sector as well as for those already in the workplace. Towards that end Rwanda Development Board is working hand in hand with the private sector, the Workplace Development Authority and the Ministry of Labour to adequately address the growing need for qualified and well trained staff deployed in positions where they encounter local and foreign customers. It was foreseen that better service levels transform into better yields for the sector in the near future.

The country has plenty of top rate attractions and while we develop more under diversification plans we also have to train competent and well spoken staff. Then we can fully exploit the earning potential from tourism because foreign visitors expect good services and are ready to pay for them a leading stakeholder said on condition of anonymity. We work with the private sector associations on all issues which can improve performance. We encouraged the private sector to get organized, speak through an association because it makes dialogue easier. In fact we meet with many of them several times a month when needed to resolve matters arising before they become problems. In the same conversation Ms. Rwigamba also stressed the boards commitment to support training and use monitoring mechanisms to establish, maintain and improve quality standards in Kigali and upcountry at the key tourism destinations of Volcanoes National Park, Nyungwe Forest National Park and Akagera National Park but also along the birding trails outside the parks and along the Congo Nile Trail which was launched in December last year. If all goes well, all the clients who will be coming in for activities such as Gorilla trekking, Wildlife viewing, primate tracking, birding among others will experience remarkable tours which they will live to tell. All eyes on Rwanda now.

Around 2,000 members of parliament from around the world came to Kampala for the International Parliamentary Union meeting. The meeting is to last for 6 days. Some of the delegates who came early took the advantage of seeing some of Uganda’s spectacular sights in the national parks, boosting #VisitUganda2012, a tag line developed after the Lonely Planet guide book company elevated the “Pearl of Africa” as their global number one destination for the current year. In the same way, those who missed that chance have reportedly opted to take post conference tours to visit the mountain gorillas in Bwindi National Park, or else see go for chimpanzee tracking in Kibale, take the launch rides on the Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park or see the Nile squeeze through a 7 meter wide gap in Murchison Falls while others enjoyed all the activities one after another. The meetings of the IPU took place at both the Kampala Serena Conference Centre and the Commonwealth Resort in Munyonyo, where the official opening took place in the presence of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Uganda’s tourism fraternity was needless to say excited and the Uganda Tourists Board was a key player in the preparation for the global conference, providing delegates and participants with material about where to visit and what to see. Other publications like The Eye also availed to the visitors showing the great variety of restaurants, art galleries and places to visit Kampala now has on offer for tourists. Official carrier for the event was Brussels Airlines which had key staff participate in the planning and preparation for the IPU Meeting in 2012.

The President of Uganda accused the two bodies governing tourism in the country of promoting only gorillas neglecting other tourism resources. Museveni attacked the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) for failing to effectively market Uganda abroad, saying it has become a major hindrance to the country’s tourism. While speaking at the Presidential Initiative on Tourism at State House Entebbe, Museven said UTB promotes specific animals like Mountain Gorillas leaving the beauty in parks. “Some of these people do not put thinking in what they do. Promoting mountain gorillas is good but what about the national parks that show Uganda’s uniqueness?” he asked. He added: “Tourists would go to Kenya and Tanzania to see the lions and buffaloes and only come here for mountain gorillas.”

This calls for equal promotion of the country’s tourism resources such as the lakes, rivers, wildlife, bird species, mountains, butterflies, reptiles, not forgetting the unique cultures among others. The pearl of Africa as Sir Churchill called it, is blessed with many unique tourism resources and it is believe to be the top tourist destination in 2012. the country provides a number of tourism services, provided by very hospitable people not compared to any throughout Africa. The activities include the mighty Uganda wildlife safaris, birding tours, mountaineering, white water rafting, chimpanzee tracking, cultural tours to mention but a few. All these packages are always leave the clients asking for more and speechless. Uganda provides the most breathe-taking tour adventure second to none in east Africa. So whenever it a tour for gorillas, wildlife and others, Uganda is the best option while among the Uganda tour operators Africa Adventure Safaris is the choice.

The President called the general manager of UTB, Mr. Cuthbert Baguma, to explain why they only have promotions of mountain gorillas but he was speechless. Mr Museveni urged the board to go back to the drawing board and rethink marketing strategies that bring out Uganda’s uniqueness to tap in the tourism revenue like other countries.

In Uganda, the Ministry of Tourism has launched a campaign to promote the tourism sector online through the social media campaign on Face book and Twitter, ‘dubbed My Uganda’. It was launched last week by the Tourism Minister Ephraim Kamuntu, gives residents and international visitors an opportunity to share their experiences of the country. Through My Uganda people can share impressions, experiences and memories of the country, its people, wildlife, scenery and culture through social media channels face book and twitter. Anyone interested from the public, will load videos and photographs and publish their written reflections onto a dedicated face book page. This has come up when tourism in the country is taking the lead in bringing up foreign exchange. Uganda was referred to as the “Pearl of Africa” by Sir Churchill due to the striking resources it’s gifted with. These include lakes, rivers, mountains, waterfalls, wildlife, bird species to mention but a few. “I hope that as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our independence, Ugandans and our international friends will embrace My Uganda” as a way in which we can tell the world about our great country. Through this campaign we will show that Lonely Planet was correct to declare Uganda as the world’s best country to visit in 2012,” said the minister. “I am very proud to say that the very first video contribution has been submitted by the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Amama Mbabazi. In it he celebrates the ‘great, fascinating and captivating beauty’ of his Uganda and remarks that the country is ‘poised to take off’ in a way which will bring about a ‘new and prosperous nation,’ Prof. Kamuntu added.

In case you are looking for any sort of dream land for your tour, safari or honeymoon, look no further than the pearl of Africa. Africa Adventure carries out tour packages across East Africa, in Uganda, you will have a variety to choose from for example Mountaineering trips, Gorilla Safari, wildlife viewing, primate tracking, white water rafting, cultural tours the list is endless.

It seems the wetlands in Uganda have not yet released all their secrets. Not long ago, Bigodi wetland near Kibale Forest National Park in Kamwenge District looked nothing more than a thick mass of papyrus. After interventions by Kibale Association for Rural and Environmental Development (KAFRED), the tourism and conservation initiatives won the prestigious UNDP’s Equator Initiative Award 2010. This is given to Community Based Organizations and Non-Government Organizations in recognition of their outstanding successes in reducing poverty through the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. The wetlands form an important wildlife corridor, and are home to more than 200 species of birds and eight species of primates such as the black and white colubus monkeys, Red-tailed monkeys, Baboons among others. According to George Owoyesigire, a member of KAFRED, the local people were able to halt encroachment on the wetland and create guided wildlife trails for tourists.

Some of the tourism activities noted in these wetlands are Chimpanzee Tracking Safaris, Bird watching tours, wildlife safaris and many others. The revenues from tourism have been used in building a secondary school and promoting environmental education in the area, instituting a loan scheme for farming and support to a local women’s group making handicrafts.

This came in as the world commemorates the UN World Wetlands Day under the theme, “Wetland tourism-a great experience and the slogan, “responsible tourism supports wetlands and people,” wetlands like Bigodi demonstrate that conservation and improvement of livelihoods move together. “Wetlands have a great contribution to tourism,” says Regina Namakula, the spokesperson for the Wetlands Management Department. “The residents living around the wetlands are able to earn income by selling handicrafts and other products.” Apart from being Eco-tourism, wetlands offer different roles such as controlling the flow of water and avoiding floods. To enjoy such remarkable tours provided by the wetlands, look no further than Africa Adventure Safaris, you will never regret it. The company also provides Honeymoon tours, Gorilla tracking tours, water rafting among others.

“Pays des mille collines” meaning the “Land of a thousand hills” due to the hilly topography of the region. Rwanda has become the pioneer of Google mapping in the whole of Africa. The striking strategy was adopted to fasten the search for all tourism facilities and attractions throughout the country. The good news was reported by the leader of tourism and conservation at RDB Rica Rwigamba immediately after the board signed the contract with Google. The agreement will help promote and market Rwanda’s tourist attractions as they will be identified online from wherever one may be. This marketing strategy is believed to boast the tourism industry since it Rwanda’s major source of foreign currency. In this matter, Google will have to identify attractive places like all the national parks in the country for example Volcanoes National Park, the forests like the Nyungwe forest, the Congo Nile trail, important Islands among others. Google mapping is expected to increase on the number of tourist inflow in the country. Internet marketing is preferred particularly because today is the fastest mode of communication therefore the best method to use.

Google mapping has also been introduced in Rwanda to help improve on the tours and travel business in Rwanda, they wish to see the business more accessible and more comfortable for the tourists so said Rwigamba. The tourism resources in Rwanda are very unique and extremely breathe-taking to all kinds of tourists such as wildlife, lakes and rivers, forests, swamps to mention but a few. The tourist activities associated with these resources are Mountain Gorilla Trekking, Boat rides, Wildlife viewing, Birding, Canopy walks, cultural tours among others. There are about forty mappers, GUS professionals, students as well as tour operators who will be involved in the exercise. They are using the standard Google Maps application which provides the opportunity of viewing the maps, route planners and service locators.

Uganda consists of a wide number of cultures for example the Baganda, Basoga, Bagisu to mention but a few. A cultural museum has been opened up in the western part of the country near Mbarara town. This is the first of its kind in Uganda if not the whole of East Africa. Igongo centre is privately owned by Mr. Tumusiime, a renowned publisher. Mr. Tumusiime noted that the main aim for the establishment of the museum is to promote culture in Uganda and the African continent at large. This centre is mainly for cultural tours, although Africa Adventure safaris provides not only cultural tours but also gorilla tracking tours, Wildlife Tour, Birding tours, Primate tracking tours in the various East African countries that is Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, DR Congo, Kenya and Tanzania.

Uganda has been ranked by the British travel guide, the lonely planet as the number one tourist destination in 2012 so in case you are attracted to the Uganda tours don’t hesitate to book with Africa Adventure Safaris. This is so because the country has a wide number of tourist attractions making Uganda a collection of every kind of tourist whether Honeymooners, birders, researchers, holiday makers, and many more. One the side of cultural tourism, Uganda is second to none, as she is blessed with hospitable and unique cultures attractive to anyone. To have a brief knowledge about the cultures, the “Buganda” culture is oldest and comprising of the biggest number of people, they are found in the central part of the country and known for their great hospitality followed by the “Bunyoro”, “Ankole”, “Bugisu” who are also known for their traditional circumcision ceremony among others. This is just a simple touch on the striking Ugandan cultures.

This new born has brought the total number of the formerly extinct white rhino given birth to in Uganda to five in less than years. Africa Adventure Safaris usually provides an option of tracking Rhinos enroute to its clients who are visiting Murchison falls National Park. It is known for remarkable Uganda Wildlife Safaris, Adventurous Uganda Gorilla Safaris and Rwanda, Mountaineering expeditions among others.

Uganda is known for her extinct gorilla tours carried out in Bwindi impenetrable National Park and also Mgahinga National. The company also provides other remarkable breathe- taking tours such as wildlife tours and birding tours which are more adventurous in Queen Elizabeth, Lake Mburo, Murchison falls, Kidepo valley and Semliki, Akagera, Nyungwe Forest national parks while mountaineering is at Mount. Rwenzori and Elgon national parks not forgetting the Rwanda Gorilla .

In addition, Angie Genade the executive director of the Rhino Fund Uganda noted that this newly born Rhino came months just after the recent birth of “Malaika” calf on 2nd July, 2011 and added that it’s a blessing to Uganda’s conservation society as she is the only country worldwide with such an advancement in Rhino conservation. There is a plan to reintroduce the white Rhino in national parks nation wide.
