Nyungwe is the largest montane forest in Central Africa with 13 species of primate; these include chimpanzee and large groups of Rwenzori colobus. Tracking in Nyungwe Forest National Park is on steep slippery hillsides and viewing is unpredictable. Around 300 bird species, orchids and butterflies are other attractions. Nyungwe's biodiversity is astonishing by African standards and is one of the most endemic species-rich areas in whole of Africa.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival
On arrival in Kigali, you will meet your tour guide and transferred to Nyungwe forest lodge for your accommodation; just on the suburbs of the ever green Nyungwe forest and tea plantations. This evening, you will all meet up with your tour guide for a welcome dinner. Overnight at Nyungwe forest lodge/Gisakura guest house.

Day 2: Primate Trekking: Nyungwe Forest
Early Morning Transfer into the forest to track for large communities of Chimpanzee, return for lunch and take an afternoon hike to track Black and white Colobus Monkeys. Dinner and overnight stay in Nyungwe Forest Lodge / Gisakura guest house.

Day 3: Day Hike: Cultural walk
We follow the Gusakula Tea Estates and Lake Kivu after breakfast, stopping en route to experience traditional local dancing and culture, accompanied by lunch.

Return to the lodge for lunch, Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Kigali City tour / Departure
This is the day to say farewell to your fellow travelers, tour guide and to a country that has been your home for a short while. Following breakfast, you will transfer back to Kigali with stop over to different Genocide Memorial sites like Murambi, have a city tour in Kigali, visit the curio markets, do shopping, and then have lunch. You will transfer to the airport and catch your flight back home.
