Trip Overview

Day 1: Kigali City Tour. Transfer to Volcanoes National Park (PNV)
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in Rwanda
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Kivu
Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest
Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking & Colobus Monkey Tracking/ Canopy Walk
Day 6: Leave for Kigali passing via Butare

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali city tour, transfer to Volcanoes Gorilla park (2-3hrs)
Morning City tour in Kigali, visit Gisozi genocide memorial site, local art and craft market, later drive to Ruhengeri near Parc National des Volcans, overnight at Kinigi Guest House (Budget), Hotel La palme (Mid Class), Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury).

Day 2: Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Adventure
Early breakfast is followed by a briefing about gorilla trekking adventure. Sight and stay with Gorillas is 1 hours for observation and photographing. Return for lunch at your lodge, relax as we wait for afternoon cultural performance or nature walk.  Overnight at your lodge on Day 1.

Day 3: Transfer to lake Kivu
Morning breakfast and transfer to the shores of the beautiful lake Kivu, take a boat cruise to visit Coffee Island, spend the evening relaxing on the shores of lake Kivu. Overnight at Kivu Serena Hotel (Lux), Hotel paradise malahide (MR / Bug)

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest
Have breakfast and proceed to Nyungwe Forest, a home of Chimpanzees and colobus Monkeys. Overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Lux) / Peace Guest Lodge.

Day 5: Chimpanzee and Colobus Monkey Trekking / canopy walk
Morning Chimp trekking in Nyungwe Forest, and afternoon canopy walking adventure or colobus monkey trekking. Overnight at your Lodge on day 5.

Day 6: Depart back to Kigali via Butare
Breakfast is followed by drive through Nyungwe Forest, enjoy the scenic beauty of the forest with enroute stop at Murambi Genocide memorial site, Rwanda National Museum, dinner and overnight in Kigali, or transfer to the airport for your departure flight.

End of the Tour in Rwanda and Uganda

Possible extension

A Day hike to Dian Fossey's Grave, nestled between the beautiful volcanic peaks of Visoke and Karisimbi.
Trekking to the site is quite spectacular, goes through bamboo forest and afro-montane habitats, with criss-crossed trails with tracks of forest buffalo and elephant. Expect an encounter with all sorts of wildlife as you make your way up and down the site. This is where the American primatologist (Diana Fossey) who dedicated her life to the conservation and protection of Mountain Gorillas in this area for about 20 years.
