This is a 10 Days safari through Uganda's prime safari destinations; Murchison Falls National park and Queen Elizabeth National Parks, the best parks for game viewing in Uganda, Kibale Forest for chimpanzee tracking and Bwindi Impenetrable, home to more than half of the remaining mountain gorillas in the wild. After the trek, you will take an excursion to Ngamba Islands Chimpanzee Sanctaury, a conservation project run and managed by the Jane Goodall Institute. This is the best trip for both primate lovers and wildlife enthusiasts who would like to see much of Uganda's wildlife.
Trip Overview
Day 1: Meet and Greet at the Airport. Our tour guide will transfer you to Kampala. (Optional Kampala City Tour basing on your time of arrival)
Day 2: Leave Kampala for Murchison Falls National Park. Visit the top of the falls.
Day 3: Game Viewing in Murchison Falls National Park. Launch Cruise along the Nile River to the bottom of the Falls.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park through the Albertine Rift.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest. Visit the Magombe Swamp for a nature walk.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Take game drives in the Kasenyi Plains. Take a boat trip in the afternoon.
Day 7: Chimpanzee Tracking in the Kyambura Gorge. Look out for the tree climbing lions in the Southern Ishasha. Proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
Day 8: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. After the trek, return to the lodge. Take a local community tour.
Day 9: Return to Kampala, arriving in the late evening.
Day 10: Take an excursion to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
Trip itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Uganda
Arrival at Entebbe airport where you will be met by our tour agent and then transferred to Kampala. You can take a city tour around and see the Kasubi tombs among others. Sleep overnight in Grand Imperial Hotel/ Africana Hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to Murchison Falls national park.
We drive to Murchison falls national park from Kampala which is 5hrs. Along the way we go through the popular Luwero triangle and pass the Zziwa rhino sanctuary. We drive straight to the top of falls when we reach the park. Stay overnight in Paraa Safari Lodge/ Sambiya Lodge/ Red Chili camp.
Day 3: Wildlife safari in Murchison falls.
Go for an early game drive via northern Nile. There is lots of game to identify such as Kobs, elephants, Rothschild's giraffe, lions and leopards among others. In the evening go for a launch cruise on the Nile and watch hippos, the largest crocodiles and marvelous bird life. Sleep overnight in Paraa safari lodge/ Sambiya Lodge/ Red Chili camp.
Day 4: Travel to Kibale national park
Travel early morning to Kibale national park. On way look out for the beautiful views of the ancient Mountains of the Moon, the Lake Albert in the vicinity and many other eye catching features.
Check in at Ndali Lodge/ Mountains of the moon Hotel.
Day 5: Chimp trekking in Kibale National park
Chimp trekking is done in the mornings as you get to see the chimpanzees alongside other primates like grey- checked mangabey, black and white colobus, red tailed money, vervet monkey, olive baboons. In the evening you can visit the Magombe swamp to check out a list of birds. Return to lodge to relax.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth.
Travel in the morning to Queen Elizabeth Park, a park that is endowed with rich wildlife. Go for a game drive to the Kasenyi plains and gaze at the beauty of Uganda. Check out herds of elephants, bush buck, Defassa waterbuck, warthogs, buffalos among others. In the evening head to the Kazinga channel for a launch trip which will send you wild with sightings of crocodiles, hippos, birds like the shoebill, cormorants and papyrus Gonolek. Sleep overnight in Mweya safari lodge/ Hippo Hill Lodge / Simba Safari Camp.
Day 7: Chimp trekking in Kyambura gorge
After having breakfast, go for chimp trekking in Kyambura gorge. Expect an encounter with other primates such as the grey checked mangabey, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, black and white colobus, and red tailed monkey. We go for a game drive in the southern Ishasha sector where you will see the tree-climbing lions and more Kobs as we continue direct to Buhoma advancing Bwindi Park. Check in at Gorilla forest camp/ Gorilla resort/ Buhoma community Bandas.
Day 8: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi
Wake up and take a cup of tea followed by a brief talk by the park rangers at the park quarters then finally head to the forest to search for these unique creatures in the highland areas. Spend an hour with them and meet the silverback- head of the group. Return to lodge and go for a community walk or nature walk to waterfalls in the evening.
Day 9: Transfer to Kampala.
We travel to Kampala this morning and stop for lunch in Mbarara. Stay over night in Grand Imperial Hotel/ African Hotel.
Day 10: Transfer to Ngamba islands.
Early in the morning, Transfer to Entebbe, Nakiwogo then onto a motor speed boat to Ngamba islands (45 minutes), a chimp sanctuary where you will get to feed the chimps and learn more. By evening you will be able return to Entebbe.
Day 11: Departure to next destination.
Just drive off to Entebbe airport as you say farewell to Uganda.
