8 Days Karamoja Cultural Experience

Book 8 Days Uganda Cultural Safari to Kidepo Valley national park. Visit the Karamojango people in their homestead also known as manyatas for close cultural encounters with Gorilla Trek Africa. The safari also involve bird watching in mabira forest, rafting and visit to the source of Nile in Jinja, Sipi Falls excursion and game viewing which together make a complete safari package to north eastern Uganda.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala to Mabira Forest – Jinja
Leave Kampala early after breakfast for Jinja. Stop at the Mabira forest for a nature walk and excellent bird watching experience. Then proceed to Jinja source of Nile; the longest river in Africa. Go for white water rafting along the Nile. This is one of the most exciting rafting in the world and very safe with disposals of life jackets, qualified guides and rescue team. People without experience should not fear rafting, since experience is not required, but they will to have fun and adventure. Dinner and overnight at Jinja Nile resort.

Day 2: Jinja – Mbale – Mt. Elgon
Have breakfast and set off to Mbale town for lunch, have a tour in Mbale town local markets, visit the Bagisu people, the producers of Bugisu best quality. Dinner and overnight in Elgon View Hotel Mbale or at Sipi at Lacam Lodge.

Day 3: Sipi Falls-Moroto-Karamoja
Have breakfast and go for a trek through the Sipi Falls from Mount Elgon. Expect superb vegetation with banana and coffee plantations and view of the Karamoja valley. After lunch, proceed with the journey to Moroto through Namalu and enter the semi-arid land of Karamoja region. Dinner and overnight at Leslona Hotel in Moroto.

Day 4: Karamoja Cultural Tour
Have breakfast and proceed to explore the culture and people of Karamoja through the facilitation of local cooperation projects. Expect a visit to Lopotuk villages and the dispensary, the youth centre and you can request to assist local performances, music and dance. Dinner and overnight at Leslona Hotel in Moroto.

Day 5: Kidepo Valley National Park
Have breakfast and embark on our trip Northwards via Kaabong and Kotido to reach one of the most un-spoilt and wild places remaining in Africa; Kidepo Valley National Park. It was named after the river traversing this region at the border between Sudan and Kenya. The region is characterized by mountains, hills and valleys. Dinner and overnight at UWA Bandas.

Day 6: Game drive & Day hike
Have early breakfast and proceed for photographic game drives along the trails of Kidepo Valley Park. The park inhabits one of the most exciting faunas of any Ugandan parks, with over 80 species of mammals several of which are restricted only to Kidepo, like cheetah, striped hyena and caracal, with over 465 bird species including the ostriches. A part from the game drive, on request you might organize a visit to the local Karamojong homestead. Dinner and overnight at UWA Bandas.

Day 7: Game drive
Have early breakfast and embark on another game drive in the Park. Later proceed through the Acholi land to Kitgum. Dinner and overnight at Boma Hotel Kitgum.

Day 8: Departure
Have breakfast at the hotel and start a picnic drive back to Kampala after all these Adventurous tour activities.
