Mandela Elvis

Mandela Elvis, a graduate of Social Sciences from Makerere University, is a great reader with great enthusiasm in plants and birds. He also reads a lot about history of African societies. He is very thoughtful, attentive and very information skilled! Elvis’ commentary and observations on what you see while on a safari is an indication that the time in his car is not wasted at all. He is an experienced, knowledgeable and the best driver one could hope for on roads that would cause most drivers to stay home. While generally taciturn, he enthusiastically answers every one of the many questions throughout the trip and provides meaningful background information regarding the country, its history, culture and people. Because of his planning (and his relationships with people at the parks) guests have always rated him very highly according to some of our tripadvisor reviews.Mandala Elvis

Mandela Elvis on Unforgettable trip to Uganda from Kigali

Our five-day trip to Queen Elizabeth Park and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with our tour guide Elvis Mandela was simply breathtaking. Nelson helped us put the tour together on very short notice (we were on a three-month driving trip across Africa, but our vehicle broke down) and handled affairs excellently even after hours. The trip itself was dazzling. Apart from the sheer intensity of tracking chimpanzees at Kalinzu and gorillas in Bwindi (near Ruhija), witnessing behavioirial quirks of hippos up close (on the Kazinga channel between lakes Edward and George), Nile crocodiles, buffalo herds, and on and on, it was the human encounters that were truly remarkable. Ugandans have a generosity of spirit from which the west could learn a lot! Our tour guide, Elvis, was a fountain of knowledge, covering everything from fauna, geography and flora to politics and history! He was also flexible about the itinerary on our request, always professional and yet full of humor, a great driver, and aware of the total context at all times. Exceptional! We learned a lot and will miss him! Thank you

7 day Rwanda/Uganda trip
This is a post-Covid review for a pre-Covid 7 day Rwanda-Uganda gorilla and chimp tour from Jan 30 – Feb 5th, 2020. I was traveling by myself. .

I did very little planning for this spontaneous trip and Nelson did great with the lack of notice that I gave him in setting up my trip. Although it was scheduled to rain for the entire week, I rolled the dice and it worked out well.

Elvis Mandela was my guide and he turned into a friend by the end of the 7 days. He is a very good driver and he was very knowledgeable about Rwanda/Uganda. I felt very safe with him the entire trip and I really enjoyed getting to know him!.
